The first ever rodent I got was a hamster. Well I thought I would name it something that started with a 'h', so I named him Hamlet. He was the cutest thing ever. He was a pale cream with a white strip under his chin. He had lived for two and a hlaf years (for a hamster that is a long time). I was so sad when he died becuase he was the sweetest thing. He never bit anyone. He could be let out of his cage and not run away. He was so amazing. So this is my contribute to him.

Awwww thats sweet. I had a rabbit called Bibble who lived for 7 years and like you hamster, he never bit anyone or ran away etc. Then one day on the 6th september (I remember it coz it was the first day I went back to school after the summer hols) he wasn't in his cage and we found out he got attacked by a badger and eaten. I was soooo sad and I still miss him =[ a few days later my cat found his jaw =[ we buried it and put a cross of sticks at the head of his grave and held a funeral =[

I think the worse part of owning pets is knowing that they aren't going to be around forever. I had a pony who is now 26/27 (hes sold but he is moving into a field near us in september =]) and im scared about when he will pass away. The thought terrifies me.

Sorry about your hamster

Awww. My dad works on a farm and occasionally I go and help out with the milking and I got really attached to this cow called Number 27 (lol) because she was really friendly and use to follow me around like a dog and one day she had to be put down =[

I know how you feel. I had a rat named Angel. She was the sweetest thing and would lick people's fingers. My cousin poisoned her because he couldn't have a pet rat.
