| My mother told me I might get a horse this following Spring, or next Spring. I'm saving up now, actually.:3 Anyway, I was looking for horses and horse breeds. I found these breeds, the ones that interested me most: 1. Saddlebred 2. Arabian 3. Thoroughbred(expensiveD:) 4. or a Mustang All of these breeds, I found out, could be very expensive, and can also be very cheap. I found this information on the breeds, and this is why these 4 breeds interest me out of all the wonderful horse breeds of the world. .:Saddlebred:. Saddlebred horses are naturally born with 1 of their 5 gaits; the slow-gait. The Saddlebred is mostly known as the peacock of the horse show world because of how flashy the breed is. The American Saddlebred is known for their stamina, personality, and conformation, and how well it is suited to accomplish any task requested. The Saddlebred is sensitive and alert, and is beautifully proportioned. Wide-set, expressive, and kind eyes along with gracefully shaped ears set close together are positioned on a beautifully, well-shaped head. The average height of the Saddlebred is 15 to 16 hands, but can also range from 14.2 to 17 hands. Saddlebred's main coat colors are bay, chestnut, and black. The coat color can also be gray, cream dilutes, champagnes, tobianos, and sabinos. "The neck is long with a fine, clean throatlatch and is arched and well-flexed at the poll. The American Saddlebred sports well-defined and prominent withers, while the shoulders are deep and sloping. Well-sprung ribs and a strong level back also characterize the breed. The legs are straight with broad flat bones, sharply defined tendons and sloping pasterns." Saddlebreds are extremely intelligent and very people-oriented. Show/Pleasure, Driving, and Gaited Events are the main disciplines for the Saddlebred horse. .:Arabian:. The average height for an Arabian horse is 14.2 to 15 hands. The colors for an Arabian horse is mainly bay, chestnut, grey, and black. "The Arabian is a lightly built horse with a small head and a dished profile. The neck should have a distinct, graceful arch and the withers should be well-defined. The tail should be high set and the back should be short." Arabians are known for their spirit, and intelligence. Show / Pleasure, Endurance, and Dressage are the main disciplines for the Arabian horse. .:Thoroughbred:. The Thoroughbred is the most popular, and well known horse breed for racing in the world. They are ranged from 16 to 17 hands high. The Thoroughbred's coat colors are mainly Bay, chestnut, grey, black, and roan. "Refined head, intelligent eyes, and a slightly longer than average neck. Thoroughbreds should show depth through the girth, the shoulders should be well-sloped and the back should be short. This breed is also characterized by muscular hindquarters, straight legs, and well let-down hocks." The main disciplines for the Thoroughbred horse are Racing,J umping / Eventing, and Dressage. .:Mustang:. The Mustang is often called "The Symbol of the American West." Mustangs are known for their rugged athleticism and qualities of endurance. Their average height is 14 - 15 hands. Their main colors are Bay, black, buckskin, champagne, chestnut, cremello, dun, grey, grullo, palomino, perlino, pinto, roan, spotted, and white. Mustangs that have been removed from the wild require experienced handlers, but a gentled Mustang can make a willing partner and a great family horse. Their main disciplines are Trail, Endurance, and Rodeo / Ranch. I was mainly interested in a "green" or young horse, or a foal so I could get to know the horse, although my friends told me to get an older horse in their teens or 20s. I want a filly, colt, stallion, or mare, not a gelding, although my friends tell me a Gelding would probably be best. I'm pretty much going against my friend's requests. Haha, xD Well, thank you! | |

| I would get a saddlebred or a Mustang. Though, if this is your first horse, either get a green or a well broke in one, training can be though, also I would get gelding because then they are never in heat and they are alot calmer XD | |

| I agree. I have a mustang cross and he is the nicest horse. I also agree about the gelding thing. Mares are such a pain. Haha Also get a moderately sized horse. Tall horses are not fun to saddle. And do a little getting to know the horse before taking it home. Make sure you know that it is a good match. Most people would not like to have the horse returned. Good luck on your horse search and congrats on getting a horse! | |

| Well, where I live, there are Mustangs in every color, pretty much, and, first, my mom said we would get a foal from the herd because they aren't completely wild and there was one foal that I loved (He's lead stallion now, how awesome/sucky is that?xD ((I'm not sure NOW, because it's been a while since we went out to see the herds'.) and kept an eye on. They are $200 dollars to the Gold Mine because they own the land, and everything on them.THEN, I showed her a beautiful, pinto Saddlebred mare, and a just as beautiful gray Saddlebred filly, but now she wants to get me a Quarter Horse.:L I told her about wanting a Black or Gray horse, and she said we could find a black or gray Quarter Horse for less than a Saddlebred, but every black Quarter Horse I found was way more expensive. T.T These are the horses I had in mind: ::Saddlebreds:: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eisFE1EUkUhttp://www.johnny6.com/images/Slides/SLAim/SlideAim11.jpg A gelding: >> http://www.extendedtrot.net/ads/champion-futurity-gelding::Arabians:: http://www.stonewallfarm.com/arabian-foals/silvershadow.html His name is Silver Shadow!!!!!! (Looking for suggestions:L) ::Thoroughbred:: Gelding: [img][/img] ((He was a dark bay appaloosa with a black mane and tail, and a white, black spotted blanket; the Mustang I told you about.)) Finishing tomorrow!!!! | |

| Yeah, me too.:3 But it's a tie between the Thoroughbred Gelding, the Saddlebred gelding, and the Black Pinto 4 year old Saddlebred. It all depends on the price of the horse, because we have a strict budget. | |

| I agree completely with you, but the hard part will be getting my mom used to the idea that I don't want a Quarter Horse, but a flashy, Saddlebred. She cornered me the other day when I told her I wanted a Saddlebred, lol. I'm sure she was joking, but she's super glued to getting me a Quarter Horse. I absolutely ADORE the Black Pinto Saddlebred Mare, but I'm afraid to ask the Women giving me her information what her price is.D: I just know it'll be well over 1,500. )': Probably 9,000! | |

| I may get a horse in the spring to but 9000 is a little pricy for a saddlebred well maybe not because i have found saddlebreds for 35000 | |

| Yeah, I found a Saddlebred Stallion, black, just a white star, for $40,000! But, the only reason I'm convinced about her price being well over $1,500 or even $9,000, which is quite extreme, is because she's a black pinto with a great pedigree, but I don't care about a horse's pedigree, as long as they are beautiful, in my opinion EVERY horse is beyond the word beautiful or speakable for that matter, and how well they act. You know, I wouldn't care if the horse bucked me off, and almost killed me, I'd still love it with all my heart because I've never owned an animal bigger than a 4 foot tall dog...
The Pinto Saddlebred mare is unbroken too! My mom wants to teach me how to train a horse, and stuff, so, that's good. Plus, it should knock the price down slightly. Slightly...): | |

| Yeah, and just because a horse has a good st of parents doesn;t mean that they are kind and gentle either. You will know the right horse when you find it. I am sure of that. | |

| Yeah, I know. Like, take Man O' War for example, his Grand Sire and his Sire were both wild horses, and had a flaming attitude, but he was a nice horse. (Until you saddled him, anyway.) | |

| Update!! I found this ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL GELDING! He's so beautiful, and he can be a show jumper or cross country horse! (Possibly!) He's purebred Thoroughbred, an OTTB or Off Track Thoroughbred for $200!!! >,< It's awesome! The only downside, you ask? I can't get him until my mom and Dad say I can, and that will be after we fence in the property, which will take a while since we haven't even started. THEN, we need to build the pen, or get the horse to a friend's house. Dad ALSO wants to do the garden first, I think. Look at this link! I love him!!D: <3 http://www.horseadoption.com/thunderific/ | |
